Proverbs 10; holding your tongue...

Sorry I am a little behind on my posts. I have done Chapters 8, 9, & 10. What I got from Chapters 8 & 9 is that I need to "Fear the Lord". That seems to be a common statement throughout Proverbs so far. Here are the verses I chose for those missing posts...

Proverbs 8:13 (NIV)~ To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

Proverbs 9:10 (NIV)~ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

**************************

Scripture:
When words are many,
sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise.
Proverbs 10:19 (NIV)

Observation:
Keep your mouth shut. Don't talk to much. Something is bound to come out that is hurtful to someone.
Like Thumper's mother said in Bambi, "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all." (not sure if that is a positive quote but its along the lines what what she was saying)
I need to remember this.
I have a tendency to say too much. It might also be the reason I have more "acquaintances" than actual "friends".
I need to remember that not everyone wants to know the actual me...like "what I think". I don't get invited to a lot of things. And in the back of my mind...I think its because "My words are many".

Application:
Basically...don't talk so much. Keep your mouth shut. Hold my tongue. Watch what I say.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, please hold my tongue. I know this is a problem I have. I need to keep my mouth shut. I don't want sin coming out of my mouth anymore. I want to be the wise & quiet one.
In Jesus Name~ Amen.
