Proverbs 3; Trusting in the Lord...

I don't know about you but so many verses jumped out at me today. It was really hard to pick one. But the one I chose had to with with an action. Sometimes I do this & it always in the back of my mine of "I should have" helped out.

Scripture:
Do not withhold good from those who deserve it,
when it is in your power to act.
Do not say to your neighbor,
"Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow" -
when you have it with you.
~Proverbs 3: 27-28 (NIV)

Observation:
WOW! Powerful words!

This is why I chose this verse...

You know this time of year when most stores are doing little stuff at the register when they ask you to pay a $1 for certain charities??
Sometimes I participate but when I don't its between paychecks. I have the extra $1 but I'm worried that something will come up & I will need to use it. So I tell them, "no thanks, next time." But in the back of my mind...there is this little voice that says, "You could spare that extra $1". Then I feel so guilty. It's just a $1...right? The Lord was talking & I wasn't listening.
My observation is that I need to TRUST in the LORD that he will always provide. Not to worry about "what could come up".
The needs of my family have always been met. We've always had a roof over our heads, food to eat & clothes to wear.
Today's lesson is very eye opening to me. I need to give more freely. Maybe this needs to be in the "application part".

Application:
I need to give more freely. I will trust in the Lord to provide for me, my family & others. In their way of asking me for help is the Lord's way of providing for them.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, Thank you for opening my eyes today. It all started out for being thankful this morning for my home. Thank you for providing a warm place for my family to live. I pray that you watch over those who don't have a home. Who are cold & living outdoors. Thank you for making me see that I can spare that extra $1...that I need to trust that you will always provide in what ever the needs are. Not to worry about "what could happen". Just to be in that moment & what can I do in this moment.
In Jesus Name~ Amen.

UPDATE 11/4/2011:
so this morning I went into a store to get a few things and I was asked at the register to donate a gift for Christmas (something about the military doing it) . I gave a little giggle. Because these next two weeks money is going to be tight. We had some car repairs a few weeks ago & playing catch up on a few bills this week. I giggled cause I knew he was telling me to trust him. AMEN! I am trusting!

What a wonderful takeaway lesson from today's Proverb. I am so guilty of this same heart when it comes to giving ... thanks for this post!
